Applewood Harvest Festival 2018
If you like nothing better than biting into a juicy, fresh apple, then you'd best not miss out on Applewood Harvest Festival. Each year, hundreds of visitors flock to Elgin to stock up on the much-loved fruit and to take part in a host of apple-related activities. The event takes place at the Applewood Preparatory School on 5 May 2018.
Bring along your family and friends (furry four-legged ones included) for a wholesome day of autumn fun. Start off with some apple tasting, and taste some of Elgin's finest varietals of the fruit, then enjoy a slice of homemade apple pie served with either cream or ice cream.
Peruse the craft stalls for an eclectic array of merchandise, where bags of granny smiths and golden delicious can be bought for later consumption. If you've overdone it on apple-munching and are looking for a hearty meal, various local restaurants will be opened for the event, think Peregrine Farm Stall, The Pool Room and Hickory Shack. These eateries will be often up gourmet fare, craft ciders and some of the best wines of the region.
There will be a myriad of entertainment to look forward to, for the young and old, including live music by local musicians, tractor rides, hay-diving, scarecrow building and apple hunting. For the fitness enthusiasts, there will be a challenging 11km trail run, or if you're looking for something more gentle, a 5km fun run. These routes will see you running through the beauty of surrounding farmlands.
Come on along for a day of apple-inspired fun!
